Chris Molina

Chris Molina is a filmmaker from Miami, Florida whose films focus on queer stories. He leans heavily on his own personal experiences, often blurring the line between fiction and autobiography. While he originally started filmmaking because he believed it was cheaper than therapy, he now admits he was incredibly wrong (and he’s back in therapy).

Chris’s films have played festivals like Florida Film FestivalBorscht Film FestivalNew Orleans Film FestivalBend Film FestivalNoBudge, OUTshine Film Festival, and Indie Grits.

In 2022, Chris's debut feature, Fallen Fruit, was invited to be a part of the New Orleans Film Festival South Pitch competition. In 2023, it was announced that Molina was an Oolite Arts Cinematic Arts resident, where he’ll receive $50,000 to create his debut micro-budget feature.

Chris is the Short Film Programmer for the 40th Miami Film Festival, where he began as a volunteer 5+ years ago. He’s worked at a variety of other film festivals in different capacities (Including programmer, juror, volunteer coordinator, and venue manager). These include Miami Film FestivalBorscht Film FestivalFlaming ClassicsMidnight Movie, Oolite Arts, and Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.

In 2022, Chris was one of fourteen artists chosen for the Oolite Arts Home+Away Residency program at Anderson Ranch in Snowmass, Colorado.

He used all of the above experience to create Sun Pass Film Festival, a local film festival that addresses the growing seeks to fill the gaps in Miami’s film community.
